"I would say that as Christians we don’t believe in coincidence. God is sovereignly in control of all things at all times, so in that sense there is never something that “just happens”. As far as “divine intervention”/”providence”, it would therefore ALWAYS be at work, but our ability to understand it and all of the facets of God’s sovereign plan is ridiculously limited. I think that sometimes we think we see parts of it, but its complexity is more than our human brains can fathom. We do have a few cases where God “shines a light” on history and explains His purposes (the book of Habakkuk is a great example – he asks God “why” and God specifically answers), but that’s not usually the case. We can understand some purposes sometimes, but for the most part we’re limited in our human brains in what we can understand of God’s purposes and plan and therefore the reasons and results of divine intervention." ~ Pastor Greg Vruggink
